Ohio University Western Equestrian Team

I have had the pleasure of coaching the OUWET since 2004. The team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). They compete at five different levels: Beginner(Walk/Trot), Intermediate, Novice, Advanced and Open. The Open riders can also show in a Reining class. They have eight shows a year to try to qualify for the Regional show. The top two placing's at the Regional qualify to show at the Semi-Finals. From Semi-Finals the top four placing's qualify for the National Championship. We also show at several Invitational shows throughout the year. The Team is a part of the Club Sports program at OU and is a student run organization. The students do fund raisers and community service projects as part of Club Sports. Lessons are weekly during the Semester with extra lessons available on request. We have had Regional and Semi-Finals qualifiers every year and National qualifiers all but two years since 2004. We have had several National Top Ten placing students on the OUWET. To be on the Team you must be a full time student at OU. If you are planning on attending OU and are interested in being on the OUWET please contact me and I will answer any questions you might have. We invite you to come to our facility and see where you will be riding (18 miles from campus). If possible I can set up meeting with some of the students presently on the team.
